News : New Emergency Service Across MP from November 1
Bhopal, May 5, 2014 -- The Home Department has announced to float new emergency service to help needy persons on dialling 100. The plan is going to be launched in the state on November 1. The official said, police vehicle equipped with GPS and GIS will reach the spot in five minutes in major cities and within half an hour in villages.
"There won’t be need to reach police station for lodging complaint or FIR. Around 12,000 police personnel will be on their toes for this task," home department officials told CM Shivraj Singh Chauhan in a meeting.
They said 1,000 special vehicles would be available across the state to reach the spot on the spur of a message.The service will be helpful in case of medical or fire emergency. The officials claimed the new plan would strengthen policing and ensure better security to people.
The call centre for this will be located in Bhopal. It will be attached with 108 ambulance service. Feedback will be collected from the victim. "We expect on lakh telephone calls per day and have equipped the call centre to deal with the capacity. A team of 240 persons will be deputed," they said. Construction of the call centre building and other infrastructure facility will start soon.
Nearest vehicle equipped with GPS, vehicle locating terminus, mobile data terminal, CCTV and wireless will receive call from 100 number. An ASI and a head constable deputed on vehicle will write FIR. He would contact a senior cop in case of need. Police force will record video and audio and photography. The officials said the scheme would be further attached with accident response system.
