News : New German Headquarters for Unify
Munich, Germany, May 11, 2016 -- Unify, the Atos brand for communications and collaboration software and services, has since March 2016 a new address in the north of Munich in the Highlight Towers (HTL), after many years in the Obersendling district. At HLT, the new working environment extends over eight floors. The concept follows the principles of the New Way to Work, the design comes from the Milanese architecture and design group il prisma and is based on a large-scale survey among employees and several workshops with the management team.
The principles of the New Way to Work go against rigid processes and structures to allow people to define the way work is done. In the traditional working model the office was often the only place to work and therefore an essential pillar of the way employees go about their tasks. Nowadays mobile technologies, unified communications, and the plehora of digital communication channels has created an environment that work is something that you do, not somewhere that you go.
This is evidenced by the current "The Way We Work" survey commissioned by Unify: about one quarter (26%) of knowledge workers* in Germany already spend between 26 and 50 percent of their time outside of the traditional environment.
However, the office is still a linchpin of the company. To support employees as best as possible, to attract and retain, the office must support flexible working and modern tools. It has to adapt to the employees and fit to the company. Although the classic email is still the leader in terms of communication tools among German knowledge workers (46%), one fifth (20%) uses videoconferencing, for example. On-demand tools are very popular as well: 63% of all respondents use Internet or cloud-based services always or at least sometimes.
Unify is characterized by a diverse workforce – some employees have been active in the company for many years, while others joined only recently. Therefore, totally different ideas of an ideal workplace come together. The office concept has to master a balancing act in meeting all requirements as far as possible and in promoting the exchange of knowledge between the generations.
