News : New Jobs as Swansea Call Centre Saved
March 11, 2014 -- The future of a Swansea call centre, which had been due to close, has been secured - and the company is now recruiting more staff.
In September, company TUI UK & Ireland, which runs the call centre for holiday brands Thomson and First Choice, announced it was to carry out a consultation on the closure proposals for its cruise support and sales team at its office in Marnier Street.
The plans would have affected 34 full-time staff at the CruiseDeals sales centre, and 14 members of the Thomson and Island Cruise support team.
But instead of going ahead with the closure, TUI UK & Ireland has now announced it has vacancies at the business.
Kathryn Ward, retail and financial service director for TUI UK & Ireland, said: "The team in Swansea is highly respected across our business for the high levels of service and support they provide to our customers.
"I am therefore delighted that as well as being able to keep the call centre open we now have vacancies to fill."
TUI UK & Ireland had planned to relocate its cruise support to its Luton head office where the back office cruise team are based, which design and manage the cruise business.
The Swansea call centre’s long-term future has been secured as a satellite operation supporting the company’s centre in Coventry.
Current vacancies available include contact centre agents and a training consultant, although the company said it expects to announce more vacancies shortly.
