News : New MoneyTalks Helpline for Struggling Families and Whanau
Wellington, New Zealand, July 9, 2018 - A free financial helpline called MoneyTalks is now available to help people who are struggling with their money.
"This free service has the potential to make a big difference to the lives of families and whanau who are struggling to make ends meet," says BFC Trust Chief Executive Tim Barnett.
"We know that many people are in financial distress, MoneyTalks provides a quick and easy way to get in touch with trained financial mentors who can provide free and confidential advice.

"Advice can be provided over the phone, online chat and by email – and we’ll shortly be adding a text service.
"People can also be connected with free and confidential services in their own communities to help them get things under control and to stay that way."
Mr Barnett says people contacting MoneyTalks might be struggling to pay their bills and debts or need advice on how to help a friend or family/whanau member in difficulty.
In other cases, people might be under pressure by a salesperson to make an instant decision and need immediate support and guidance.
The helpline will operate from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 2pm on Saturday. "This will help people who work long hours and those who are unable to contact the helpline during the day," says Mr Barnett.
