News : Nordea to Cut Up to 300 Jobs
April 2, 2014 -- Nordea is set to cut up to 300 jobs in Finland after announcing the start of co-determination talks. The firm hopes to avoid compulsory redundancies by making the cuts through early retirements and natural wastage.
More than 300 Nordea employees are set to retire this year, and the company might well avoid replacing most of them. On Wednesday Nordea announced a plan to cut up to 300 jobs this year and next, out of a total workforce in Finland of 7,700.
The cuts are part of an efficiency drive announced in connection with the company’s 2013 results. The firm is aiming to cut 900 million euros in costs between 2013 and 2015.
As part of the changes, Nordea will establish a call centre that will employ 60 people in Finland, with more new employees to follow once the centre is up and running. The firm has not confirmed where exactly the centre will be situated.
