News : Sykes Enterprises Announces New Call Center
Morristown, TN, USA, Jun 23, 2015 -- Hundreds of new jobs are headed to Morristown.
Sykes Enterprises announced they'll open a new call center this fall. They expect to bring between 300 and 500 workers.
Sykes official Bill Rose says they chose Morristown because of the family atmosphere and the friendly people.
"We're looking for that really upbeat, high energy person who's hungry, and wants to do great things for people and wants to serve people," he says.
Chamber of Commerce President Marshall Ramsey said the company offers a different kind of job to the manufacturing-heavy area.
"We push a lot of people into the restaurant business or retail, when we know they are more qualified than that or there are better jobs for them. So we feel like this will give them an opportunity and an outlet to move up in their career," he says.
The company will help fill a hole in the job market created last Summer when Wellco Enterprises, a company that made boots for the U.S. Army, closed its Morristown operation.

The company will move into the old Food City on Andrew Johnson Highway.
"Another benefit for us, they're filling unoccupied, big-box retail space, which is something every community struggles with," Ramsey says.
Sykes handles customer service calls for companies.
