News : Now, 1095, Gurugram Traffic Police's New Round-the-Clock Helpline Will Answer All your Queries
Gurugram, India, Feb 5, 2019 -- In a welcome move, the Gurugram traffic police have launched a new helpline number which will allow residents to acquire traffic-related information. The number, 1095, will also enable citizens to get details of their towed-away vehicle in addition to informing them about the details of the fine imposed on them and where to pay the levied fine.
An official with the Gurugram police was quoted as saying that citizens can also connect with the helpline, which was launched on Sunday, to report traffic violations and jams on the city's roads. Earlier, the Gurugram traffic police had a 10-digit helpline number (9213020404). However, it was difficult for locals to remember the number and was not widely publicised, to begin with.

This move is also in line with the police's initiative to keep a centralised track of towed-away vehicles. Launched with the objective of giving people information about their towed-away vehicles, the new helpline number will be active 24/7 with five active lines. A new traffic control room has been set up on the first floor of the traffic control tower in Gurugram's DLF Phase-4 to overlook the operations of the helpline number.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) (traffic), Himanshu Garg told Hindustan Times that social media handles of the Gurugram police on Twitter and Facebook will be used to publicise the new helpline number. Another official with the department said that constables will work in three shifts to attend incoming calls and a log will also be maintained by them.
