News : Pasco County Moves to Fix 911 Call Center
New Port Richey, FL, USA, Feb 25, 2015 -- Pasco County is acknowledging what 10 Investigates has been telling you for years: It has a major problem in its 911 center.
Pasco announced it's taking steps to resolve the issue.
The county is taking the unprecedented move of increasing the budget for Pasco 911 in the middle of the budget year and hiring 8 new 911 operators. It's a move that the county had to make to keep residents safe and keep up with the call volume.
This should go a long way toward alleviating the problems 10 Investigates has detailed since 2007 including people calling Pasco 911 and having the phone ring and ring and ring -- with no answer.

10 Investigates also told you about the difficulty and delay dispatchers had in transferring calls to the police or fire rescue emergency responders
In the past year, Pasco received 100,000 more calls than it anticipated which is about a 20 percent higher call volume.
