News : PCB Comes Up with New Helpline to Clear Waterlogged Areas

Pune, India, June 12, 2018 -- Rainwater and its accumulation on the streets of Pune is a phenomenon citizens face every year during the monsoons. Daily commuters, especially, find the waterlogged streets a menace. To resolve this issue in the Cantonment area, the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) had come up with a new plan this year and issued a list of numbers on which any citizen can call to seek help for waterlogging problems pertaining to their specific wards. Board members have claimed that the issue will be resolved in a matter of minutes.

Seven supervisors have been assigned to the eight wards of PCB and are supported by a team of four or five members from the cleaning staff. When contacted, one of the supervisors, Rohidas Chavaria, spoke of a recent incident behind Kohinoor Hotel where he and his team went and resolved the problem in a mere half an hour. He said, "We went to the site around 7 pm and found it flooded. Our team worked for a while and removed all the waste that had choked the openings of a line. The water promptly drained out." He also mentioned that his team is well-equipped and now ready to handle any such incident on their ward.
