News : Perth to Remain as Key Site for Aviva
Perth and Kinross, Scotland, June 15, 2015 -- Insurance provider Aviva has handed Perth a jobs boost after confirming it is to retain a major base in the city following a business review.
More than 1,000 staff are employed at the firm’s Pitheavlis call centre and office site and confirmation from the company that it would remain as a "core" operating centre brought was greeted with delight.
Perth and Kinross Councl leader Ian Miller said: "As one of the major employers in the area it is very good news indeed that Perth remains a core element of Aviva’s plans for the future.
"This announcement will bring a sense of security to the hundreds of staff employed at the Pitheavlis buildings and reaffirms the organisation’s commitment to Perth after they purchased the site in 2013.
A question mark had hung over the Perth office’s future after Aviva announced a major shake-up of it's operations following its takeover of Friends Life.
SNP Perth and North Perthshire MP Pete Wishart added: "The designation of Perth as a core location by Aviva will hopefully provide reassurance for Perth-based staff as to the company’s long term commitment to the city."
