News : PMC Plaint Helpline Gets 250 Calls in 3 Months
Panvel, Maharashtra, India, Jan 25, 2016 -- The Panvel Municipal Council (PMC) has started a toll free helpline to register complaints regarding civic amenities.
The helpline that was launched on November 1, 2015, has received so far over 250 complaints and of them the civic body has resolved 205.
The helpline aims at simplifying the process of registering complaints. Earlier, people had to submit their complaints in writing or send it through post.
The moment somebody dials the helpline number a complaint is registered on the system. Within minutes, the complainant and the concerned department gets a text message. Thereafter, they attend to the task depending upon the seriousness even if it is a holiday.
The maximum number of unresolved complaints pertains to the works department. Other departments that have complaints which have not been resolved are the electricity, property tax and water supply departments.

"For the works and water supply department, the resolution time slated is 40 days. The time set for resolving grievances of health department is 24 hours," said additional chief officer Jagnnath Khade who heads the toll free helpline department.
"The works department is a trouble department for us. Many of the complaints are on permissions and related works. This leads to delay in resolution. Officials' lethargic approach is also a concern. However, in sanitation the complaints are resolved within hours," another official said.
