"For BPOs, the government is offering subsidy up to Rs 1 lakh, and the companies preferring women and locals will be given preference in Uttarakhand. BPOs’ expansion will fuel the growth of several ancillary units that caters to the BPO industry," he said.
On the central government’s initiative to train Uttarakhand police personnel in cyber and forensic investigations, Prasad said, "As many as 800 policemen have already been trained, and in 2019, the facility will be handed over to the state police."
He also announced that IT centres would be opened in Almora and Haridwar for which chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat had pledged support. "To bolster data storage facility in Uttarakhand, the National Informatics Centre (NIC) would provide the necessary infrastructure for developing cloud computing facility to store the entire data of the state government. In today’ meeting, we have discussed the project and the work will start soon," said Prasad.
Speaking on BJP’ victory in the MCD (Municipal Corporation of Delhi) polls, the minister said: "It is a historic victory; it is validation of the faith and trust people have in our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a law minister, election comes under my portfolio, and I want to say that if AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) has so much of problem with EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines), then it must first wind up its government in Delhi. When AAP won in 2015, there were no problems in EVMs; when Akhilesh Yadav won in Uttar Pradesh in 2012, there were no problems in EVMs; and in Bihar, where the BJP lost, there were no problems in EVMs."
