News : President Aquino Unveils Negros Cyber Centre
Bacolod City, Philippines, April 30, 2015 -- More than two years after its construction was started, Capitol-owned Negros First Cyber Centre (NFCC) here was inaugurated Thursday in rites led by President Benigno C. Aquino III.
Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., who joined the President in the unveiling of the building’s marker, said the Cyber Centre was just a hope and a dream several years back, but now it is a reality.
"We have buried a time capsule near the fountain area below for generations to understand our dream for them. Today, as we unveil our marker with His Excellency Benigno Aquino III, let this be a milestone in the history of Negros Occidental not only for us who are here today but for future generations," the governor said in his speech before the stakeholders of the Information Technology-Business Process Outsourcing (IT-BPO) sector in Negros Occidental, including Bacolod.
As an IT-BPO Outsourcing Hub, the facility located at Lacson corner Hernaez Streets offers up to 22,000 square meters of mixed IT-BPO and commercial spaces.
Constructed on the two-hectare portion of the four-hectare Paglaum Sports Complex, its facilities are divided into three sections –- Information Technology, Commercial Support Facilities, and Common IT Facilities.
The first locator is call center firm Ubiquity Global Services. By the end of the year, healthcare information management firm Visaya KPO will also occupy two floors.
The four-storey NFCC is expected to provide 6,000 direct BPO jobs and 20,000 indirect jobs for Negrenses in the next two years.
Moreover, Marañon said the NFCC is "more than just a structure — it is a central point of convergence of ideas, creativity, and technology –- that will generate jobs, opportunities and investments for the country."
