News : Private Software Firm to Operate NMC's Proposed Call Centre
Nashik, India, March 6, 2015 -- The civic body has finalized a software firm to which the operations to run the call centre will be outsourced. Officials said that the call centre will be operational during next few days at the municipal headquarters.
The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has finalised a Nashik-based software firm for the work. Initially, six operators are to be provided by the company to operate the call centre, which will provide all the basic information regarding its services to citizens.
The call centre will play an important role during the upcoming Kumbh Mela when pilgrims coming to the city can get any information in one phone call.
Speaking to TOI, an NMC official said, "We have already finalised a Nashik-based software company that will provide the operators to run our call centre. We are in the process of giving work order to the company."
The six operators will work in two shifts. The call centre numbers are to be announced during the launch of the call centre, which is to be held shortly. Citizens may be able to get any information pertaining to services of the municipal corporation.
He added that pilgrims coming during Kumbh Mela will be able to get any information pertaining to Nashik, the routes towards Ramkund, bathing ghats, parking area locations, hotels, railway bus time table, police station numbers.
"We are working on the issue of how to make it helpful to the pilgrims and it will be operational for 24 hours during Kumbh," the official said.
The project is on the lines of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's Sarthi project, under which the basic information is provided to the citizens and their complaints are also accepted.
The Kumbh Mela, which is held after every 12 years in Nashik, is scheduled to begin from July 14 this year. Close to one crore people, including 75 lakh devotees and 30 lakh sadhus, are expected to visit the city during Kumbh. Hence, the civic administration has already started the preparations.
