News : PSCU Plans to Shutter St. Pete Call Center
St. Petersburg, FL, USA, April 27, 2015 -- About 6 percent of the jobs are being eliminated at the St. Petersburg headquarters of PSCU, a credit union service organization.
The company is closing its contact center at its office at 580 Carillon Parkway, eliminating 53 positions. PSCU also has call centers in Phoenix, Arizona and in Allen Park, Michigan, outside Detroit, and will consolidate contact center operations at those sites, said Merry Pateuk, vice president of corporate communications.
Although the closing wasn’t publicly announced until Monday — after the company filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity — workers at the St. Petersburg call center were told about the closing in January and PSCU is working with them to get other jobs in the company. Between 25 and 28 of the workers impacted have taken other spots at PSCU, she said. The St. Pete contact center will close on June 30, the WARN notice said.
