News : Punjab Launches Helpline for Complaint Redressal
Nagar, India, June 12, 2015 -- Taking a step towards a transparent system and to serve the public better, a grievance redressal cell has been established by the department of local bodies. A statewide toll-free helpline number was launched by Punjab local bodies minister Anil Joshi here on Wednesday.
Joshi said that the grievance redressal cell will look into complaints relating to water supply, sewerage system, drainage, garbage disposal, streetlights, death and birth certificates, property tax certificates etc. The said complaints could be registered on toll-free number from 6 am to 10pm on working days. On Sunday and holiday, the complaint can be lodged through computerized system round the clock.
Joshi said a unique ID number would be given to the complainant for future reference, through which he or she could track the status of the complaint.

Once filed, the complaint will be forwarded to the level-1 inspector, JE or SDE concerned through SMS or email. Redressal period of two days will be given to these officers; otherwise the complaint will automatically get forwarded to level-2 officers, including executive officer, executive engineer, superintending engineer and assistant commissioner through SMS or email.
The complainant will get a receipt through SMS and the complaint will be closed only after verification from the complainant. The minister said a monthly review of all pending complaints would be done.
