News : Ralls County 911 Officials Preparing to Reopen Call Center
New London, Mo. , May 30, 2014 -- Ralls County 911 board members are expected to hire a new director as they prepare to get the center back open soon. Chairman Bill Bowman says an offer has been made to a candidate and expects him to take the job.
The candidate's name hasn't been released.
Bowman says the hope is to have the 911 center open once hiring is complete and the new hires finish training and certification requirements. He said they'll most likely hire 14 to 15 people.
The Ralls County 911 Center closed July 16 after losing its executive director and several employees. Marion County 911 took over the services in the interim.
The operation was the center of controversy after news that a gun was reportedly accidentally fired in the facility. The executive director and two employees were alleged to have punched in the area of drywall where the gunshot hole was located. They were also alleged to have destroyed surveillance video.
Special Prosecutor Talley Kendrick decided to not file criminal charges in March.
