News : Research Survey Center Begins ABQ Hiring
Albuquerque, NM, USA, Feb 5, 2016 -- The hiring has begun.
NORC at the University of Chicago, which last October said it would open an Albuquerque call center at Copper Pointe, announced it plans to eventually hire up to 400 employees, mostly part-timers.
"We have just begun the process of training our first large intake of supervisory and management staff for our survey research center in Albuquerque," said Eric Young, a NORC spokesman, who expects the center to open later this month.
The plan is to initially employ about 200 people, he added. Young said NORC uses a very flexible scheduling tool which includes a web-based shift swap board, so people can build a schedule that works for them and their other commitments. The majority of the shifts are late afternoon and evening, with most starting between 3 and 6 p.m.
He said wages start at $10.50 per hour with $11 to bilingual interviewers and the possibility for advancement within 12 months of employment.
NORC is an independent research institution affiliated with the University of Chicago, and interviewers are vital to the organization’s nationwide survey research operation, according to a company executive.

"We are looking to hire friendly and personable individuals who can reach out to people around the country on issues of importance for society," said Jenny Kelly, vice president of telephone surveys and support" in a statement.
Interviewers talk to people to obtain information on issues such as health care, employment, education and others. To be an interviewer, English proficiency is required; written and verbal Spanish proficiency is a plus. NORC interviewers often are college students, customer service professionals looking for a second job and retirees.
The company has leased 15,000 square feet in 247,166-square-foot mixed-use commercial building near Interstate 40 and Eubank.
