News : Rockford Call Center to Boost Hiring from 400 to 1,000
Rockford, IL, Jan 12, 2015 -- A new contract for an east-side call center, which planned to hire 400 people, means it will now need 1,000 employees by the end of 2015.
Ken Sneed, site director for ServiCom, 175 Executive Parkway, made the announcement Monday at the City Council's Planning and Development Committee, which approved a measure that would provide a training grant to the company, which has moved into the old K's Merchandise space.
"When we wrote the grant, we were planning for 400," Sneed said. "Comcast has come to us and asked us to increase the number to 1,000.

"If the council approves it, the city will pay for the grant over five years from federal Community Development Block Grant funds.
With bonuses, Sneed said, the jobs will pay about $11 an hour. With the expansion, there will be opportunities for promotions internally.The measure moves on to the City Council for approval.
