News : Samaritan House Gets Grant for Call Center
Oct 14, 2014 -- The Hampton Roads Community Foundation has awarded a two-year grant to Samaritan House.
The grant will allow the charity to expand a call center connecting the homeless to shelter and services.
The other grant recipients are:
* VersAbility Resources, an organization that will get funds over two years toward an "e-cycling program" that hires and trains disabled adults to dismantle and recycle donated computers and other electronic devices.
* Urban League of Hampton Roads, a nonprofit that will receive funding over three years to create a regional financial empowerment center in South Hampton Roads.
The center will help low- and moderate-income families become more financially secure, according to a news release from the foundation.
* Portsmouth Volunteers for the Homeless will receive money toward its work assisting the homeless with housing and services.
