News : Scammers Claim to be from Microsoft Tech Support
Winnesheik County, IO, USA, Jan 8, 2016 -- The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Office is warning of a phone scam.
The sheriff's office says they've received several reports from citizens that they've been getting suspicious calls from a person claiming to be with a Microsoft Support Group.
The caller will tell people they've been monitoring computers and deactivated their personal computer because of a virus issue.
Workers from Microsoft Support will not call you, this is a scam to get your personal information.
Deputies want to remind you to never give anyone access to your computer, unless you've contacted them for technical support.
