News : Sheffield Extends Capita Contract Until 2022
Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, UK, Jan 21, 2015 -- Sheffield City Council has extended its agreement with Capita to manage a number of services including ICT and HR until 2022 as part of efforts to curb expenditure with business change, such as through bringing its revenues and benefits operations in-house from next year.
According to a council report, while the authority will look over the next few years to explore a "preferred" option of multiple specialist providers supplying its ICT capabilities, it feared that a move away from its existing agreement at present to a multi-source option could undermine front line service delivery.
Over the extension period, which will see break periods in January 2018 and January 2020, Capita will therefore continue to provide the council's revenues and benefits, human resources and finance business transactional services.
In terms of its broader ICT needs provided under the extended Capita agreement, Sheffield announced there was "flexibility" in the contract to test some elements of provision from other suppliers.
Under the terms of the contract, the delivery of revenues and benefits front office services - which includes contact centre and face to face transactions - would be moved in-house from Capita to the council when the renewed agreement commences in January 2016. The services are expected to be integrated with the council's customer services function.
The council also approved plans to outline a future strategy for managed services and other outsourced contracts to inform its sourcing needs in time for the first break period in the Capita agreement by 2018.
