News : Sitel to Cut 120 More Jobs at Painted Post Site
New York, USA, March 3, 2015 -- Sitel, a call center in Painted Post, has filed notice with the New York State Labor Department that it will make a second round of major layoffs in April.
The company will cut 120 jobs by April 27, according to the WARN notice filed Monday with the Labor Department. In a WARN notice filed Jan. 29, Sitel said 278 jobs would be eliminated by April 30.
In each case, the company reported the job losses were due to "departure of a client campaign." Sitel did not identify the clients in the notices, nor say whether campaigns were scheduled to end on those dates.
Prior to the layoff announcements, Sitel said it had about 500 employees at its 101 Canada Road office in Painted Post. If that number is still accurate, the two rounds of layoffs would drop employment to just over 100 workers — a reduction of 80 percent — provided there was no hiring locally.
