News : Sixty New Jobs Created in Sunderland City Centre
Sunderland, UK, July 27, 2015 -- Sixty jobs will be created in the city centre with the arrival of a new contact centre.
Ambassador Theatre Group (ATG), who operate the Sunderland Empire, is relocating some of its contact centre function to the High Street West theatre.
Work has begun to transform the hospitality suite into the contact centre ahead of it opening on September 14, with vacancies now open.
Ben Phillips, general manager at Sunderland Empire, said: "We are delighted that the contact centre will be based in Sunderland, we are the West End of the North East so it is only fitting to help support contact centre operations for ATG at our venue, creating an influx of 60 new jobs for the area".
Co-founded by Sir Howard Panter and Rosemary Squire OBE in 1992, ATG is a live-theatre company with venues in Britain, in the US and Germany. It is also a theatre producer with productions in the West End and on Broadway and touring productions in the UK, North America, Australia and Asia.
"We are delighted ATG has selected Sunderland as one of its two new national ticket sales centres which will further boost the Empire’s already strong role within the city’s economy and raise the profile of the theatre on a local, regional and national level.
Coun Paul Watson, leader of Sunderland City Council, said: "This is a real coup for the city to be chosen by ATG for the new call centre.
"As owners of the Empire Theatre, we’re thrilled the council has been able to play a role in attracting further new employment to Sunderland.
Employment opportunities are advertised online and via local media from Wednesday.
