News : SolarCity Corp Hiring 300 to Strengthen Its Roseville Sales Team
Roseville, CA, USA, March 30, 2015 -- Residential solar installer SolarCity will be hiring "at least 300 additional employees" through this year to strengthen its sales staff in Roseville, California. On Saturday, the company hosted a job fair to start filling those positions. In 2014, SolarCity added 4,000 new employees to its workforce, taking the total to close to 10,000.
The San Mateo-based company said it already has about 475 employees at its new Roseville office. Most employees at its Roseville office work in sales, marketing, project management, design and information technology. But with new hires, SolarCity is looking to beef up its call center sales team as it witnesses growth in residential solar sector.
Paul Stephan, SolarCity’s SVP for residential sales, said the Roseville office will be one of its two big call centers, serving all 16 states SolarCity operates in. He said SolarCity was building out another 7,000 square feet in its current building in Roseville to create a "Googlesque-type atmosphere without having to move to Silicon Valley." The company also has a warehouse and operations center in Sacramento with 300 employees.
SolarCity entered Roseville with the acquisition of Paramount Solar in 2013. The new workers will work in its inside sales team, which offers phone consultations for people interested in having solar panels installed on their rooftops. Over the past few months, the company has taken a series of steps to meet the rising consumer demand.
In December, the residential solar installer hired Jon Carson, the former campaign strategist for President Barack Obama, as the head of its Ambassador program.
