News : NMC Call Centre to Provide Information, Receive Complaints
Nashik, India, Jan 30, 2015 -- The civic body is planning to open a call centre at its head quarters - Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan - to provide basic information pertaining to its services from various departments and accepting complaints from the city residents. The model is being implemented on the lines of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation's (PCMC) project, 'Sarthi'.
The call centre is expected to be operational from next month. Apart from providing information, complaints from citizens pertaining to the services provided by the municipal corporation will also be addressed by the call centre operators and transferred to the online system for speedy settlement. The call centre will be operated by a private agency.
The project is on the lines of the PCMC's project Sarthi wherein basic information about the municipal corporation is provided to the citizens and their complaints are also addressed.
Speaking to TOI, an official from the civic body said, "Initially, the call centre will have a team of eight operators, which would later be scaled down to four operators who will work in the morning and evening shifts. The operators will provide all the basic information pertaining to the various services of municipal corporation - from water supply to garbage collecting vans - to the citizens. The citizens can also get information on how to get permission for construction and birth, death and marriage certificates. We are in the process of preparing software that will include all the basic questions and answers pertaining to the services from each department of the NMC."
He further said, "Apart from providing information, the complaints pertaining to municipal services like streetlights, water supply and others will also be accepted by call centre operators, who will immediately transfer them to online system for their immediate settlement. The project is expected to be operational by February-end. The calls will be recorded."
Two senior officials from the municipal corporation had recently visited the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation to study the project 'Sarthi' being implemented by the PCMC.
