Jaipur, India, Oct, 2019 -- A central health helpline with an aim to prevent clashes between doctors and patient parties leading to strikes will come up in the state. The helpline will provide a platform to file complaint against doctors and medical staff. A call centre will be established by the health department and a private firm.
The ‘health helpline’ will enable patients to complain against state health department, private and public hospitals, fake medicines, illegal medical practices and issues related to food safety. "The health helpline will soon be launched as invitation for expression of interest for the purpose has already been issued," additional chief secretary (health department) Rohit Kumar Singh said.
On October 4, chief minister Ashok Gehlot, at Sawai Man Singh medical college, had expressed resentment on frequent strikes by doctors which made society suffer.
Helpdesk’s prime objective is to provide public with easy connectivity to health infrastructure and service related concerns. It also includes easy accessibility of available schemes, other non-emergency concerns pertaining to health department and to develop an issue redressal mechanism for the patients. The proposed helpline would work as a single point of contact for public. It can also be approached for services such as medical emergencies including Janani Express services, paid ambulance services, medical advisory services and government’s health insurance related support.
It will ensure public’s direct access to the health department. The central helpline will transfer calls related to medical emergencies of fire, ambulance services and Janani Express to the existing toll free numbers 108/104. It will focus on other non-emergency and untouched medical and health concerns related to public.
