News : Special Helpline for Fever Patients in City
Surat, India, Aug 17, 2015 -- Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) has set up a special helpline number for citizens suffering from vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria in the city from the Independence Day. Anybody suffering from fever can call up the SMC's toll free number 104 for help.
Dr Hemant Desai, SMC, deputy commissioner (health), said, "Once anyone registers with the toll free number 104, the information would be passed on to the officials of the respective area.
These officials will provide primary treatment and advice to the patient." Surat is first city in the state to have a toll free health helpline number.
There has been a sudden flare up in dengue, malaria and viral fever cases in the city in August.
