News : St. Louis Firm Acquires T-Mobile Call Center's New Home
Sep 12, 2014 -- A St. Louis firm has closed on a Birmingham property it says will be the home of a T-Mobile call center.
ElmTree Funds Private Equity Real Estate announced its ElmTree Net Lease Fund II acquired the class A office building at 820 Tom Martin Drive in Birmingham, according to a release by ElmTree.
The 66,500-square-foot building is located on an 8.8-acre land parcel.
T-Mobile South, a fully-owned regional subsidiary of T-Mobile US Inc. is the sole occupant of the building.
T-Mobile South currently employs around 500 people, and it is planning to hire 100 additional employees, as reported in April when the T-Mobile call center was located at 3000 Riverchase Galleria Suite 1150.
It is unclear at this point whether T-Mobile plans a complete move from Riverchase Galleria. Calls to the company on Friday were not returned prior to publication.
Meanwhile, the new office building's owner plans a renovation "to suit T-Mobile's long-term needs."
The renovation is expected to be complete by early 2015.
