Ahmedabad, India, Apr, 2022 -- Since the start of the board exams, the counsellors of Jeevan Aastha helpline (1800 233 3330) have fielded over 200 calls from students and parents grappling with the issue of lack of confidence.
Pravin Valera, coordinator for the helpline from Gandhinagar police, said that the primary reason for the calls is the relatively low exposure of the students to the formal examination system. "The fear of the unknown is prompting them to call up for guidance. The parents tell us that their wards have completed the course, but are not confident. We tell them not to revise or start any chapter afresh at the last minute since it would have a detrimental effect," he said.

About 20% of the calls are related to preparation tips such as hours of study required; 10% calls are about the examination pattern; 20% calls are about fear of ‘offline’ examination; 10% about the family’s expectations from the child to score high marks and 5% calls are related to tips for relaxation.
City-based experts said that so far, the examinations have been relatively easy for the students, and the teachers and parents should instill trust and confidence in them so that they can perform without stress or anxiety.
