Chandigarh, India, Feb 4, 2019 -- As the clock is ticking fast and the D-day is close, the CBSE helpline has started getting frequent calls from Class X and XII students and their parents. Counsellors attending the calls say they have already started getting a minimum of 10 calls in a day and the number will only rise in the coming days.
The most recurrent question from the anxious callers is how to score full marks in the board exams, as parents also ask about keeping their wards’ stress levels in check.
The Central Board for Secondary Education (CBSE) launched its pre-examination counselling service on telephone and the internet for the students and parents on February 1. With the help of this service, both parents as well as students can get guidance on exam queries.
Parents are also calling up to know how they can guide and motivate their children. "We are getting 10 calls on a daily basis from both parents and students," said Rakesh Sachdeva, a Tricity-based counsellor. "Parents are calling to know how their wards can score well in the exams. They also seek tips on keeping them calm in such a compelling time," said Sachdeva.
As students are highly concerned about their performance, Sachdeva said, many have been calling about scoring full marks and subjectspecific doubts. She has been telling both parents and students that a balance of communication should be maintained between them, as with the lack of interaction, their wards can become aloof.
Meanwhile, counsellor Madhu Bahl said she hasn’t received any calls yet. "The helpline is yet to pick up among the Tricity residents and more calls are expected by next week," she said.
