News : Sutherland Global Recruiting 1,500
Mandeville and Kingston, Jamaica, September, 2016 -- Sutherland Global Services is hiring up to 1,500 additional staff, which would grow its workforce by a quarter.
The call centre operator has advertised for "full-time and seasonal professionals" as customer service and inbound-sales support representatives.
Sutherland offers call centre services to a number of Fortune 500 companies. Its last big recruitment drive was in October 2012 when it announced up to 3,000 available positions. The current recruits will operate from Mandeville and Kingston, starting mid-October.
In June, Member of Parliament for Central Manchester Peter Bunting described business process outsourcing in a Gleaner column as offering a new wave of employment within his constituency, since the downturn of the bauxite sector. He cited Sutherland, saying roughly half of its "5,000" staff complement were hired in Mandeville.
