News : Swisscom and GLKB Introduce Video Identification
Bern, Switzerland, June 28, 2016 -- The Glarner Cantonal Bank (GLKB) has introduced video identification allowing new customers to prove their identity without having to present their ID card at the bank branch or at the post office. GLKB collaborates with Swisscom for the new online process.
In order to use the new service, customers make a video call from a computer or smartphone with a camera and microphone to the Swisscom call centre where agents take pictures of the person and their valid ID card for identification. The transfer of the data is done via an encrypted and secure connection.
The service is offered Monday to Saturday between 8:00 and 22:00 hours. At the launch of the service, it is only available for the online products Hypomat, Investomat and Kontomat.
