Thiruvananthapuram, Sept 29, 2014 -- Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has received more than 9000 petitions at the ‘Janasamparka Kendram’ (Mass Contact Centre) which opened at the Secretariat a year back.
Chandy received the petitions - 9116 in all - in person on the 134 days he was in the capital. On the eight days that he was in the capital this month, the Chief Minister received 428 petitions, his office said in a statement.
Usually, Chandy is in Thiruvananthapuram on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays.
On these days, he will be present at the centre after 3 p.m. And Wednesdays, when he has to attend the weekly Cabinet meeting, are no exception, his office said.
Once the Chief Minister receives a petition at the centre, it is assigned a number which is entered in the computer. The petition is handed back to the petitioner who submits it to the officer concerned. The Chief Minister himself gives instructions to the officials concerned in cases that require urgent attention.
