News : Telecom Italia Launches Call Centre Accessible to Deaf Users
Oct 27, 2014 -- Telecom Italia has announced that its call centres and those of its mobile unit TIM can now be accessed by deaf users thanks to the introduction of an app called Pedius.
The app, which received a grant in the 2013 edition of Telecom Italia's Working Capital accelerator programme, allows deaf people to make standard telephone calls using voice recognition and synthesis technologies. As a result, when deaf people make 187 and 119 calls to TIM and Telecom Italia call centres, the voice of the operator will be automatically transformed into written text.
