News : Telecom Italia to Continue with Call Centre Spin Off
Italy, Feb 6, 2015 -- Telecom Italia has announced that it will press ahead with plans to spin off and rationalise its regional call centres after workers last month rejected a draft agreement to restructure the Caring Services division, which handles customer care activities.
The draft document signed with the trade unions Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl, Uilcom Uil and Ugl Telecomunicazioni followed more than seven months of negotiations covering all the issues of the customer services sector, which has been badly hit by the ongoing Italian recession.
Although Telecom Italia had agreed to shelve the project to spin off the Caring Division included in the agreement signed with trade unions in 2013 with a view to maintaining operations at 41 of the 52 regional offices slated for closure, it has now announced that the spin off is back on again.
In a statement Telecom Italia said the newly-created company will be part of the Telecom Italia Group, and its aim will be to "combine quality service to customers and the efficiencies needed to make the new company competitive in its sector of reference". The trade unions have unanimously rejected the company’s move, promising to continue monitoring the spin off process.
