News : Teleperformance Expansion: More Call Center Jobs Coming to Bristol
Bristol, TN, USA, July 27, 2016 -- Over the next five years, Teleperformance will add 500 jobs at its call center in Bristol, Tennessee, Gov. Bill Haslam announced.
The center, off West State Street, currently employs around 700 workers and will undergo an expansion, he added.
"This is great news," Haslam said. "The investment will provide the equipment for all of the new hires—right now, there are over 12,600 Tennesseans that are a part of this industry—which means that people in this state continue to attract and produce a great reputation."
"The fact that they chose here is a really big deal," Haslam said. "This is a competitive market and at the end of the day the government can help bring in jobs, but the local economy and work force is what makes the difference."
Mayor Chad Keen said he’s pleased about the company’s expansion.
"When people bring their business here, they see our available work force—our trained work force—that’s a tremendous asset for us and we don’t want to take those things for granted."
Tom Anderson, the city’s economic development director, said Teleperformance has been a consistent job creator since opening in 2010.
"They offer top-tier training, numerous opportunities for advancement and very competitive wages," he said. "We’re eager to work with them to ensure that this new expansion builds on the track record of continued growth and success."
The governor said he loves that most of the business growth in Tennessee comes from existing companies.
Greg Mormol, executive vice president of client services for the call center, said Bristol has been a tremendous market for the company.
"We moved to this location from across the state line in 2012," he said. "The performance that comes out of this region is tremendous."
Mormol would not release any information about pay for the new employees or answer other questions.
The 500 Teleperformance jobs and the 600 to be filled by the end of the year at Agero, a call center in Blountville, are part of the 2,000 jobs city officials said would be available by the end of the year.
