News : Telvista Plans to Permanently Close in March, 300 Employees to Lose Job
Danville, VA, USA, Jan 8, 2018 -- Telvista confirms they will be closing their doors permanently this year in March.
In a letter enclosed to Danville City Mayor John Gilstrap, the company call center located at 119 Cane Creek Blvd. is set to close on March 7.
The 300 affected employees who work for Telvista, which handles customer services for other companies, will be offered severance benefits and transition programs.
"This was a shock to all of us," Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce business services manager Allison Moore said.
An employee said the closure comes after an analysis of the company's operations and business costs which led to the realization that restructuring was needed.

"It's a sad time," Vice Mayor of Danville Alonzo Jones said. "Different persons really trying to figure out what's going to be their best next move."
The Danville Pittsylvania County Chamber of Commerce said they are partnering with their workforce partners to try to help out those affected.
"To try and go in and have some meetings with those employees at Telvista," Moore said.
"It is our hope that these programs will lessen the impact of this closure on individual employees and on the community as a whole," Loren Rosario-Maldonado, the Vice President of Human Resources said.
Moore said the chamber and their partners will give the workers information on programs available to them.
"As dislocated workers, they would actually qualify for career counseling programs for career placement services and other programs that would support them with this transition with reemployment," Moore said.
She said they plan on holding those meetings soon, but they are also in the midst of looking at their options with their partners to hold a job fair in the near future.
"There are companies out there that do need to hire and there are other actual call centers nearby, in the Martinsville area, that are hiring so we hope to connect any employees at Telvista who wish to stay in that industry with those hiring employers," Moore said.
Some employees will be offered an opportunity to stay with the company and transfer to the Dallas, Texas facility.
