News : Texas Company Opens Charlottetown Shop
July 24, 2014 -- A Texas company has opened a call centre in Charlottetown, launching with nine employees at the Atlantic Technology Centre.

Buchanan Technologies provides a range of information technology services, and this is its first Canadian location. Company president Stephen Sweett said one of the reasons his company chose P.E.I. was due to the availability of potential employees.
"You have a lot of great educational institutions here, like UPEI and Holland College. They're running technology courses that are great grooming grounds for us to hire new talent," said Sweett.
The company was looking for a location to serve its Canadian clients. Sweett said over the longer term opportunities will emerge beyond those in the call centre.
"In addition in our service delivery centres, we put support centre and our management services organization, and we'd like to graduate people out of our support centre into higher level roles in our manager services organization through education and certification processes that we do," he said.
The company plans to create 46 jobs over the next three years.
