News : The Progressive Group of Insurance Companies Slated to Hire
Sept 16, 2014 -- Progressive plans to fill nearly 1,000 jobs across the country by the end of 2014. Positions include IT, Analyst, Call Center, Claims and Corporate roles and span locations from Austin, Texas to its headquarters in Mayfield Village, Ohio.
Progressive plays a unique role in the Cleveland-area economy, which is in the middle of a significant shift in its workforce. According to a recent study by Cleveland State University, the city ranks 8th in the nation for the skill level of its young adult workforce. Economists are projecting a bright future for Cleveland due to its growing talent pool and rising education levels – positioning Progressive as a destination employer for the information economy.
"People countrywide are starting to learn what we already knew: Cleveland is a great place to live, work and play," said John Hoppes, national recruiting director at Progressive. "That, and our thriving company culture that lets each of our 26,000 employees carve out an individualized career path through on-the-job training and in-company networking, help us continue to attract top talent."
Positions are available across the country, including Progressive’s major locations in Ohio, Colorado, Florida, Texas, Arizona, and California, with IT and Analyst positions focused on Big Data projects concentrated in Cleveland and Colorado Springs.
Flexible work arrangements, including working from home and compressed work weeks; performance bonuses; a casual dress code; on-site medical facilities for employees and their families; and fitness centers are just some of the amenities that Progressive offers. All positions offer paid training. In addition, employees also receive medical, dental, vision and life insurance benefits.
Progressive employees also enjoy:
- aerobics, spinning and yoga classes, along with access to discounted Weight Watchers(R) at select locations
- access to eight Employee Resource Groups. ERG’s are employee-run organizations with common interests or backgrounds, like the LGBT community or young professionals, but that are open to all
- a world-renowned contemporary art collection
- potential bonuses based on company performance
- parenting resources, such as a child-care subsidy and maternity services
- employee-organized running clubs at select locations
