News : TIM Invests in App for Deaf People to Make Calls
Milan, Italy, Jan 16 2017 -- TIM Ventues, Invitalia Ventures and Principia have participated in a series A financing round for Pedius, a start-up that has developed an application for deaf people to make normal phone calls, using speech recognition and synthesis technologies. The company raised money to help bring its product to market in more countries and expand its sales network. It's also working on developing a similar service for elderly people.
Pedius has both a consumer product to make calls, as well as a business platform to help organisations offer a toll-free number for hearing impaired people to contact their customer service. Its services are available in nine countries and six languages already, and TIM uses the platform at its own call centre. Other business customers include BNL, HP and Axa Assitance, as well as a number of Italian municipalities.
