News : Toll-free Helpline Operational
Chennai, India, June 19, 2016 -- A day after the state government suffered an embarrassment at the Madras high court over a non-functional toll free helpline number of the Prohibition Enforcement Wing of TN police, the helpline was made operational on Saturday.
The number 10581 is meant for complaints against arrack distillation, sale of illicit liquor and running wine shops beyond the permitted hours.
An official at the helpline desk claimed that it has been functioning, but it could be reached only through mobile phone till Friday.
