News : TransPerfect to Hire 150 at Tempe Call Center
July 11, 2014 -- Tempe is getting an influx of jobs this month courtesy of TransPerfect Translations International Inc., an international language services and technology solutions company.
New York-based TransPerfect, which has offices in more than 85 cities on six continents, bases much of its customer service call centers in Arizona. This burst of hiring will increase the company's local employment from about 300 to 450 employees.
"We actually landed a couple new customer contracts that require quick implementation," said Mike Edwards, vice president of client solutions at TransPerfect. "We feel that in Phoenix we’ve got a great opportunity with a well educated workforce."
This hiring spree comes on the heels of the company's new call center opening in April.
"It’s a 21-year-old company and has shown tremendous growth year over year," Edwards said.
TransPerfect opened its first Phoenix location in 2008 and has since moved the majority of its call center activity to the Valley.
"It just so happens that our over-the-phone interpretation and call center business is based here," Edwards said. "That goes to infrastructure available: workspace, an educated workforce, lack of natural disasters — the occasional dust storm doesn’t really impact us."
