News : TransPerfect to Open Costa Rica Contact Center; Hiring 120 New Employees
San José, Costa Rica, May 2, 2017 -- TransPerfect, a privately held provider of translation services and technology solutions for global business, announced the opening of a new contact center in Costa Rica. The facility will seat 120 new employees, most of whom are expected to be new hires from the greater San José area.
The decision to establish a presence here was due to Costa Rica’s impressive reputation in the sector as well as its economic stability, a trait that has led to it having one of the highest rates of foreign direct investment per capita in Latin America.
Deputy Foreign Trade Minister Jhon Fonseca commented, "In recent years, because of the innovation and accelerated technological disruption that we face worldwide, services sector operations have been transformed rapidly towards increasingly complex and larger value-added activities. Costa Rica, of course, is aware of this phenomenon. That is why we are very proud to know that companies of the caliber of TransPerfect, find here the appropriate human capital, infrastructure, and economically stable conditions to provide highly complex and sophisticated global services. From the Central Government, we thank you for the confidence provided, and we reiterate our commitment to continue working to create the right conditions to enable your growth on Costa Rican soil. "

According to the TOEFL test that measures the quality of English, Costa Rica ranks at the top in language skill, which is a great endorsement of our local talent. We are sure that TransPerfect will grow rapidly in Costa Rica and that the services sector will continue to distinguish itself as one of the most dynamic in the country in terms of employment generation. "
Liz Elting, Co-CEO at TransPerfect, stated, "TransPerfect’s goal as a business is to enable communications between people, regardless of language or location. By expanding our support into Costa Rica, we are able to onboard up to 120 additional interpreters within the first year who will all help us achieve our goals on behalf of our clients around the world. We’re thrilled to continue the growth of our contact center network, and we look forward to serving new and prospective clients in the Central America region and beyond."
TransPerfect Co-CEO Phil Shawe added, "Costa Rica is a vibrant locale from so many perspectives. I'm extremely excited for our first major Central American expansion in company history."
The new facility is designed to provide an optimal work environment for interpretation and communications with active acoustic technology, break room amenities, and secure entry. TransPerfect will begin hiring at a pace of 20 interpreters per month, all of whom will be thoroughly trained and then responsible for servicing the company’s portfolio of international clients. TransPerfect provides competitive wages and benefits, and the company is actively seeking applicants with high-level English and Spanish skills and who can easily switch between languages.
