News : Transport Department's Helpline to Answer Queries and Complaints
Lucknow, Dec 6, 2013 -- State transport department will launch a toll-free helpline number for the public that will not only answers queries regarding services but also serve as a platform to register complaints. The department will announce the helpline number soon.
Queries on vehicle registration, driving licences, tax and fee and other services of the transport department will be answered by the helpline executives. "People may not like to come all the way to Regional Transport Office to get information about documents required for various procedures. Toll-free number will have answers to all such queries," said state transport commissioner Rajneesh Gupta.
The department will also create an online portal on which complainants may log in to check status of their complaints in the round-the-clock portal. The portal will also have administrative use as officials can check the portal to see the number of complaints regarding their work areas.
Transport commissioner said transport helpline will bring public grievances to the notice of the official concerned seeking directly a quick redressal. Depending on the nature of the complaint, the department would settle it within three to seven days. The portal and helpline will also be used by the department to generate feedback on various services.
