News : Tui Reaches 200 Staff at Swansea Call Centre
Swansea, Wales, May 21, 2015 -- Tui UK & Ireland is hoping for a business boom following the opening of a new call centre in Swansea staffed by about 200 employees.
Customer operations director Fraser Ellacott said, "We’ll have an extra 4,500 seats out of Cardiff next year with additional flights and I guess the message is Wales is an important region for us and we’re investing in it too."
Ellacott added the new call centre would work to assist customers in helping them plan their trips as well as selling them any additional add-ons they require.
He said: "Whether our customers want to go on an excursion or they want to order car hire, then clearly our call centre will be able to help them deal with that.
"That’s what our Swansea hub allows us to do. In that sense its prime reason for being is as a service centre and that’s core to its existence, but we’ll clearly have the opportunity to offer customers other products they might be interested in."
Ellacott added that in opening the new hub in Swansea, staff numbers there have risen from 30 to the 200.
He said the hub replaces a previous call centre in Coventry, which has now been closed by the operator.
"All the people who were there [in Coventry] had first option to come here and relocate," he added.
"Not many of them did."
