Alexandria, LA, USA, April, 2019 -- The United Way of Central Louisiana launched its 211 call center.
211 is a free, and confidential, tool that helps connect people from all communities and ages to the services they need. The system has a database with all of the resources that serve Central Louisiana.
Whether it’s support for children, employment or basic human needs, the call center has trained operators that will direct callers to the appropriate service.

Although the Central Louisiana 211 has been live since last July, David Britt said they wanted to make sure all of the bugs and kinks were fixed before launching it.
"It’s really important because there are resources in our community but people just don't know where to go to find them," Britt explained. "It's probably in the phone book, but unless you know what to look for it's hard to know. And not every service has a website, it's not even always possible to google what you’re looking for. So 211 is just the quickest, easiest way to connect to whatever kind of help you’re looking for."
Britt also added that United Way is thankful for Cleco and Christus St.Frances Cabrini hospital for their generous donations.
Cleco awarded $150,000 to launch the project and Cabrini donated $60,000.
