News : United Way Expands 211 Call Center Service for Residents in Need
White Plains, NY, USA, Feb 21, 2017 -- United Way is expanding its 211 call center services to help Westchester and Rockland residents who have trouble making ends meet.
The 211 call center, which connects people to the services that they need, will be expanded by four hours. The call center is also providing services in Rockland County.

"Callers will have information and referral services on legal holidays. Callers will get real-time information in an emergency or a disaster," says Mimi Ford, of United Way of Rockland.
There will also be more call specialists in Rockland and Westchester. The goal is to make the 211 call center a 24/7 operation.
The call center gets most of its funding from contracts and donations.
The state does provide some money, which legislators are trying to keep in the budget.
