News : UP Police to Tie Up with Global Helpline Systems
Lucknow, India, Oct 14, 2015 -- The Uttar Pradesh Police will soon sign a memorandum of understanding with the 911 emergency response system in Austin and Brooklyn of US to develop a centralised Dial 100 police control call centre in Uttar Pradesh.
The proposal got the approval of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday. Reviewing the project, the chief minister asked senior officials of the state home and police department to ensure the project was in place by April 2016. "We should develop the UP ERS as a model for all other states in the country and beyond," he said.
A panel of top officials from UP home and police departments had recently visited the 911 ERS centers in San Francisco, Austin and Brooklyn and prepared a draft of the design and functioning of the centralised police control call centre to come up in Lucknow. State government has already allotted seven acres of land along the Shaheed Path for the centre and the process for procurement of 2,000 four-wheelers and 4,000 two-wheelers has already begun.
With 300 communication officers to receive distress calls from across the state and 200 dispatch officers to rush police help, the Dial 100 call centre is one of the dream projects of chief minister Akhilesh Yadav.
