News : Sitel UK Announces Jobs for Coventry
Coventry, UK, Oct 13, 2014 -- UP to 600 jobs could be created in Coventry after customer care provider Sitel UK announced plans to open a new base in the city centre.
The firm, which has its global headquarters in America and its UK head office in Stratford, plans to set up a new contact centre at Sherbourne House on Manor House Drive.
The new centre, which is located off Coventry’s ring road, is expected to create more than 300 jobs over the next six months and could add over 600 by the end of 2015.
Karl Brough, regional director at Sitel UK, said: "We chose Sherbourne House primarily based on its location as it offers a facility that can be easily supported from our head office in Stratford.
"The excellent transport links available to the building via road and rail will facilitate staff recruitment whilst the quality of the building and the proximity to local amenity will enable their retention.
"We are seeing a great demand for outsourcing services and are delighted to be creating jobs in a new location. The new site allows us to leverage the expertise we have built up in our Stratford site and will ensure consistency and quality of service for our clients."
Sandra Garlick, Coventry branch chair of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "This is very welcome news for Coventry. There have been a couple of announcements regarding job losses in the city in recent weeks so it’s great to have positive news on the jobs front.
"Broadly, the figures around employment have been going in the right direction in the city for some time and this announcement will hopefully help that trend continue."
The deal was agreed by DTZ and Cushman & Wakefield, acting on behalf of Mapeley Estates, the landlord at Sherbourne House.
The news comes just a few days after water giant Severn Trent said it planned to axe 500 jobs, including an unspecified number in Coventry.
Travel firm TUI also announced last month plans to close its Westwood Heath base by the end of 2015, putting 600 jobs at risk.
